Technically the preference for character representation for my usual group are Lego minifigs, which has its own challenges with Stormcast, Kharadron Overlords, and Kurnoth Hunters. Now, there are lots and lots of companies that have not-40K models. Space Knights, Star Elves, etc.

As an old-school Warhammer Fantasy player myself, the game feels very familiar in how it plays out, with the biggest difference being that everything is in loose formation now--no more rank and flank.

WEBJul 1, 2021 · For me I generally treat big battles at 6-10mm, 15mm is for company sized games or when I want to engage with the (affectionately named) 'grognard' scale . 28mm+ is for skirmishes. AoS (and 40k) has always felt like an outlier in my otherwise fairly structured scale to game set up.
