WEBI definitely agree that RoN is a much, much better game than Northgard. But - and maybe that's because I haven't played all that many RTS - I would definitely include Northgard in my top 20. Difference is, I would probably put RoN in my top 10, maybe top 5. I don't think anyone is coping that the best RTS games are very old. We know this.

WEBWarcraft 3 I loved the most. I played it the longest, and mostly in my teenage years when i had an abundance of time. The custom game scene kept me active for a very long time. I pretty much loved all of the Blizzard RTS games though. Tough to choose just 1 though! I truly do love most RTS games.

WEBHas some of the best space battles out of all RTS’s. There are plenty, PLENTY of mods that revamp the game, it’s modding scene is very active. Awakening of the rebellion and Thrawn’s revenge to name a couple but Vanilla is still fun too, theres a campaign and also a galactic conquest type mode. tons of replayability.

WEBMay 9, 2022 · The Age of Empires series is classic, and everything before AoE4 has a Definitive Edition so they all feel very modern and look great. AoE1 is the OG but has been improved on in every way in the later games. AoE2 is the quintissential/classic medeival RTS. AoE3 is the first 3D one, also good but a different setting than the rest (colonial).

WEBSep 5, 2016 · It has a clean UI and I love how all manor of 4x concepts like territory, attrition and trade are abstracted into simpler and smooth feature. Battle for middle earth 2 - Just feels epic. The sound and music is wonderful and feels very filmatic. I love base-building in rts games so this ticks a lot of boxes.
