HAMPTON — Norfolk State’s men’s basketball team got back in the win column Saturday with a dominant victory over Hampton in the Battle of the Bay. The Spartans improved to 4-1 with their 67-58 victory and stretched their winning streak over the Pirates to four games. It was the first win for Norfolk State at Convocation Center since 2015.

Coach Larry Vickers and the Spartans improved to 4-1 on the season with a 62-53 win, extending their winning streak over the Pirates in the series to three games.

A “fresh start” drove George Beale from one side of the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel to the other this season. Beale, a guard with the Hampton University men’s basketball team, started his college career at rival Norfolk State.
