Chandigarh: The BJP on Sunday expelled as many as eight of its `rebel’ leaders for contesting as independents against the party's candidates in poll-bound Haryana. Haryana has assembly elections on October 5 and the results would be out on October 8.

Elections for the 90-member Haryana Assembly will be held on October 5 and the results will be declared on October 8.

The list includes the names of former minister Ranjit Chautala and former MLA Devendra Kadyan. Chutala is contesting from Rania, while Kadyan is fighting from Gannaur.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Haryana has expelled eight leaders from the party for six years for choosing to contest the Haryana assembly elections as independent candidates against official party nominees.

The Haryana BJP said its chief Mohan Lal Badoli has expelled these leaders for six years with immediate effect.
