New Orleans Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler will remain the team’s starter if Derek Carr can’t return for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Carr, coach Dennis Allen said Monday. Rattler has started the last two games with Carr sidelined from an oblique injury.

Coach Dennis Allen said Monday that Carr was listed as doubtful because the team had hope that the 33-year-old could be the team’s emergency quarterback if need be. But when the time came, the Saints still listed Carr as out among the team’s inactives without the designation.

While this week is still up in the air, the Saints may get their starting quarterback back in the lineup sooner than expected.
