Republican Eli Crane has built a solid lead in his quest to win a second term in the U.S. House of Representatives, as preliminary election results show him leading Democratic challenger Jonathan Nez by 12 percentage points in the Second Congressional District.

Eli Crane is out of the gate with a wide lead over his Democratic challenger Jonathan Nez, according to unofficial results from Tuesday’s elections. The early returns from Arizona’s congressional races contained few surprises.

With the election only days away, voters will decide who will represent Arizona’s largest congressional district. The Second Congressional District stretches from south of Phoenix to the borders of New Mexico in the east and Utah in the north,

The district includes 213,716 registered Republicans, 157,457 registered Democrats and 165,887 listed as others among the 544,836 total registered voters.
