The U.N. Security Council has voted unanimously to extend the mandate of the Kenya-led multinational force trying to tackle gang violence in Haiti, after brushing off a call from Haiti’s government to start talks on transforming it into a U.

The United States is the largest contributor to the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support mission in Haiti, which has struggled to attract funding for its operations.

We need a resolution and we need to move this mission onto a more sustainable financial path that people can plan against.”
