Long the face of a franchise for San Francisco with three World Series titles to his name, Buster Posey will now be calling the shots on what the Giants are going to look like going forward.

Posey hopes to hire a general manager with a scouting background as soon as possible. After winning three World Series titles over five years from 2010 to 2014, the Giants have struggled to tread water and compete with the big-spending Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.

The San Francisco Giants have fired president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi and replaced him with franchise legend Buster Posey, the team announced Monday. Also, general manager Pete Putila will be "moving off" that role but could remain in the organization in a different position, Posey announced at his introductory press conference Tuesday.
