For the second time in as many months, portions of The Greenbrier Hotel are slated for public auction, according to a legal advertisement placed in Lewisburg’s West Virginia Daily News on Thursday that was first reported by MetroNews.

The Greenbrier Hotel has been announced for auction once again. A legal advertisement placed in West Virginia Daily News is calling for an auction of the hotel on the courthouse steps in Lewisburg at 2 p.

A second legal notice in Gov. Jim Justice’s hometown newspaper announcing another impending auction of his historic Greenbrier Resort is merely a formality, Justice said as his family continues to work with a lender to keep the hotel.

The Greenbrier Resort is up for auction again. And again, it's because of default.According to a legal notice posted Oct. 10, 2024, in the West Virginia Daily News in Lewisburg, Greenbrier County, West Virginia,

The sale is listed for 2 p.m. Oct. 25 on the front door of The Greenbrier County Courthouse in Lewisburg. The ask is for cash in hand to be paid on the day of the sale.

Owned by the Gov. Jim Justice’s family, the Greenbrier was up for public auction in August after JP Morgan Chase sold the $9.4 million debt owed by the owners to Beltway Capital, which then set an auction date to collect the debt.

In a statement from the Greenbrier, they said the advertisement is "merely a procedural matter" and, "It in no way reflects any change in the parties' relationship or The Greenbrier's plan regarding payment.
