Memorials abound on the fourth National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada and in parts of the United States on Monday, Sept. 30. The federal holiday in Canada became official in 2021.

A sea of orange covered the gymnasium at the mâmawêyatitân centre in north Regina and the Wanuskewin Heritage Park north of Saskatoon as Canada marked the fourth annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Monday.

It's always First Nations who take the day off and do their thing and go reconcile, but I think it's important for other Ontarians to have that day off to acknowledge, to reflect, to mourn, to learn of the real history of residential school,
