Fresh off a flight home, Israeli football fans back from Amsterdam recalled on Friday clashes and violence they said targeted Jewish people following a Europa League match.

Israel’s foreign ministry said in a statement on social media that the fans were “ambushed” and “brutally attacked,” blaming violent “mobs.” Footage of the incident appears to show people being chased and kicked to the ground, with one video showing passers-by being hit by a car at high speed. The match was fraught from the start.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered two rescue planes be sent to the Netherlands on Friday after violence targeting Israeli football fans broke out in Amsterdam.
