Harriet Tubman, the abolitionist who helped thousands escape the bonds of enslavement, has been posthumously awarded the rank of general.  In a ceremony at the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad

A governor, generals and scores of veterans were on hand to see Harriet Tubman posthumously became a one-star, brigadier general in the Maryland Army National Guard on Monday.

The Maryland National Guard and Gov. Wes Moore officially recognized Harriet Tubman for her military service to both the U.S. and Maryland.
