Drew Gilbert became the first player to challenge a check swing call in the Arizona Fall League, and the Mets top prospect drew a walk after winning his appeal.

Mets prospect Drew Gilbert had his best game in this year's Arizona Fall League on Wednesday, smashing two home runs in a three-hit day.

There's no indication of if and/or when the automated check-swing challenge will make its way to the regular season and up to the majors. ( MLB continues to experiment with the automated ball-strike system in the minor leagues, with commissioner Rob Manfred suggesting it could be introduced down the road in MLB using a similar challenge system .)

Gilbert tapped his helmet in protest, initiating baseball's first automated review of a checked swing. Much to the surprise of attendees at the game, an animation of Gilbert's bat appeared on the video board.
