While the nation is anxiously waiting to see who will be the next president, Florida is watching six constitutional amendments.

Now that the amendment has failed, here’s what to know about Amendment 3 and marijuana in Florida. Amendment 3 would have allowed adults 21 and older to buy and use up to three ounces of marijuana.

In Florida, constitutional amendments need at least 60% of the vote to be adopted. Amendment 3, which would have allowed people 21 and older to use marijuana without any medical reason, got about 56% of the vote as of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Florida voters rejected a ballot measure that would have legalized recreational marijuana for adults at least 21 years old and allowed them to possess up to 3 ounces of marijuana.
