The Outer Banks community is reacting after five people, including a child, died after a single-engine “Cirrus SR22” crashed in the Outer Banks Saturday.

KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WITN) - The National Park Service has confirmed that all five people on board a small plane that crashed on the Outer Banks have died. Four adults and one child were killed when the plane crashed into a wooded area around 5 p.m. Saturday at Wright Brothers National Memorial’s First Flight Airport.

The crash involved a Cirrus SR22 near the First Flight Airport beside the Wright Brothers National Memorial at Kill Devil Hills.

A single-engine airplane crashed in the Outer Banks on Saturday evening, causing multiple fatalities, officials said.

The First Flight Airport is located near the Wright Brothers National Memorial, which will be closed on Sunday.
