A countywide sales tax increase and a separate sales tax hike in the city of San Diego both appeared to be falling short of the support each would need to pass based on early election returns Tuesday night.

Three measures were on the Nov 5. ballot for San Diego voters including Measure E which would raise the sales tax to 8.75% to support city infrastructure projects.

With the first 2024 general election results coming in, the outcome of Measure G, the proposed county sales tax, is starting to take shape. Early voting and mail-in ballots are being tallied, but final results won’t be certified until Dec.
