Rep. Elissa Slotkin will win the competitive Michigan Senate race, CNN projects, keeping the seat in Democratic hands and making her the youngest Democratic woman elected to the Senate.

Both of Michigan's seats in the U.S. Senate will continue to be filled with two member of the Democratic party.

The Democratic Party lost at least three Senate seats, and possibly as many as seven, while largely failing in its efforts to gain seats in the House.
