The median interest rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage is 6.00% as of October 1, which is unchanged from yesterday. Additionally, the median interest rate on a 15-year fixed-rate mortgage is 5.25%, which is also unchanged from yesterday.

Refinance rates on 30-year mortgages subtracted another 2 basis points Monday, lowering the national average to 6.27%. That's now the lowest reading for 30-year refi rates in almost two weeks. But it's also about a quarter percentage point above the Sept. 16 low of 6.01%—the cheapest level seen in 19 months.

The current mortgage rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage rose by 0.02 percentage point in the last week to 6.67%, according to Curinos. Meanwhile, the APR on a 15-year fixed mortgage dropped 0.05 percentage point during the same period to 5.
