When Nicholas Alexander Chavez began researching his role as Lyle Menéndez for Monsters, he paid special attention to the “mask” that Lyle’s dad Jose forced him to use when he began losing his hair.

Nicholas Alexander Chavez took his role as Lyle Menendez in Netflix's Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story extremely seriously, and that included portraying several emotional scenes involving wigs and toupees.

Chavez plays Lyle in the Netflix limited series, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story opposite Javier Bardem, Chloë Sevigny and Cooper Koch. He can also be seen in the horror drama series Grotesquerie as Father Charlie alongside Travis Kelce, Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, and Lesley Manville. Grotesquerie premiered yesterday on FX.

After being cast, he read many books about the brothers, including Leslie Abramson’s, the Menendez brothers’ defence attorney. He also got into the “heavy” side of research, listening to Lyle’s phone calls from prison and audio recordings from his ex-girlfriend that were released without his consent.

Nicholas has appeared in roles since 2021, and is best known for his three years as Spencer Cassadine in General Hospital. Alongside Monsters, Nicholas has also just starred in the new TV series Grotesquerie, as Father Charlie Mayhew.
