Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin announced Monday that they have released forward Sammy Blais from his PTO. Blais played in all four of Vancouver's pre-season games but failed to hit the scoresheet while recording a plus/minus of -3. Blais also recorded three shots on goal and played a physical game, especially on the forecheck.

Blais, 28, did have three hits on one shift during a pre-season outing on Wednesday in Abbotsford, but an inability to maintain pace and pursuit was pointed out by head coach Rick Tocchet.

The Canucks simultaneously signed Sammy Blais to an AHL contract and a PTO, sending a clear signal that this wasn't like the team's other AHL signings. Blais was clearly going to be given the chance to make the Canucks out of camp.
