Germany women's team captain Alexandra Popp will retire from international football after a 14-year-long career, the striker said on Monday. Popp will play her last match for Germany on Monday, Oct. 28,

Alexandra Popp is retiring from the German women’s national soccer team next month after a career which included the Olympic gold medal in 2016, the bronze at the Paris Olympics this year and finishing runner-up at the 2022 European Championship.

Germany captain Alexandra Popp has announced her retirement from international football at the age of 33. Popp’s senior international career has spanned 14 years and she is Germany’s third all-time top scorer with 67 goals in 144 appearances.
