“The rally is likely to help the campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, in a closely contested state. Obama is one of the party’s best-known figures and gave a speech boosting Harris’ candidacy at the national convention in August,” the AP reported.

The former First Lady's stop in Michigan would come less than a week after her husband, former President Barack Obama, plans to visit the state.

The former president and his wife remain immensely popular with the Democratic base and are expected to be effective closers in the final stretch of Harris' campaign.
