In the lawsuit filed on Wednesday, Missouri’s St. Louis- and Kansas City-based Planned Parenthood are seeking to strike down the state’s ban on most abortions that contains no exceptions for rape, incest or fatal fetal abnormalities.

Missourians voted yes on Amendment 3, but the fight over abortion access doesn’t end there. Amendment 3 was put on the ballot by initiative petition, requiring thousands of signatures from people all over Missouri. It faced several legal challenges, such as going to the state’s Supreme Court before settling the matter.

Planned Parenthood’s Missouri affiliates sued the state and various officials Wednesday to stop enforcement of various medically unnecessary restrictions that burden the ability to get an abortion in the state.
