Jul 8, 2012 · It's really hard to separate poison ivy agony vs. infected poison ivy agony, because the symptoms of infection (redness, heat, swelling, oozing) are so similar to those of poison ivy itself. I have only been hospitalized once, and that was because of staph-infected poison ivy that could have cost me my arm. Go to the doctor / urgent-care.

Please help me conquer this slowly developing poison oak rash
Mar 8, 2017 · I am pretty sure the rash is poison oak. I was messing around in the underbrush in an area where there is a lot of it, and in retrospect this was really stupid. This is my first time exposure poison oak, so I was not paying attention to it like I should have. I have educated myself on prevention for the future.

Hey, I think I participated in an early clinical trial for this stuff around 1989 or so - a dermatologist at UCSF was doing some contract work on a poison ivy preventative that contained bentonite clay, and that's the active ingredient in Ivy Block.

Mar 17, 2013 · If you're super sensitive then wash everything (don't bother dry cleaning), if you're pretty average sensitive then I wouldn't worry about it. It's possible that the oils could have transferred to the sleeping bag but as a person with medium sensitivity I have never gotten poison ivy from indirect transfer like that. Ymmv if you're very sensitive.

It'll take a while, ~2 weeks. An over-the-counter cortisone cream might help the skin to heal. Heavy duty moisturizing, like petroleum jelly, can help reduce permanent scarring. Bandage it. over with gauze pads, perhaps augmented with adhesive tape, to help keep it moist, and change the bandage daily.

Sep 9, 2010 · poison ivy can look different on different people. i don't get a rash where i touched it, i get swollen shut eyes and lips and throat followed by a rash all over my body. i can get this reaction by being around burning wood that once had poison ivy on it. i agree that it sounds like athletes foot, though.

Sep 7, 2014 · Best answer: Poison ivy will vine up a tree, but it usually won't have very many leaves up high. The vines are furry. If Kudzu is vining up a tree, the tree will probably be covered with kudzu. One identifier for poison ivy is a small red dot, right where the three leaves come together on the stem. Kudzu and poison ivy look pretty different to me.
