Thinking of purchasing a Surface Dock 2 (SD2) for my Surface Laptop 2 and am wondering if I will be able to connect it to my extant monitor which only has vga or hdmi ports. I am looking at a picture of the SD2 and it doesn't appear to have either of those connections.

I have 2 Dell P2415Q monitors working 4k at 60Hz, connected to a Surface Dock 2 with a Surface Pro X (Windows 1909 with all Windows Updates applied). My monitors are both connected to the dock using Microsoft usb-c to displayport adapters and some displayport cables that came with the monitors.

Prior to buying my Surface Pro 11 this past week, I was using a Surface Pro 8 with Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports connected to an Anker Power Expand Thunderbolt 4 Mini-Dock. I was able to use two 4K monitors at 60 Hz. The SP8 to Anker connection is a Cable Matter 2.6 foot USB4 Thunderbolt 4 Cable.

I purchased new surface dock 2 to connect my surface pro 7 to our my two external monitors using usb-c cables. Randomly either one of the monitors would connect through the usb-c ports. Then, I then connected the one HDMI-USC-C wire to Surface Pro 7 device & then both monitors randomly.(50% of the times)
